
General Objectives of the Project
The general objectives of this JA related to the implementation
of the two best practices are:
- To support the establishment of networks for knowledge-sharing and peer learning for the effective implementation of the best practices;
- To capture, understand and map the current situation of mental health and mental health services and identify needs and knowledge gaps for the establishment, improvement or scale-up of intersectoral community-based and client-centred mental health networks and services within participating countries;
- To capture, understand and map the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health, with a focus on vulnerable groups and emerging vulnerable groups, the latter including young people and health care workers;
- To contribute to generating and disseminating knowledge about barriers and facilitators for the development and implementation of inter-sectoral community-based and client/user-centred mental health promotion and care services and prevention as well as suicide prevention strategies in European countries;
- To improve the mental health and well-being of children, adolescents, adults and the elderly population by facilitating their access to care, as well as promoting and improving the continuity, quality and coherence of preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative mental health services adapted to their individual needs and provided in their local and social environment;
- To increase the efficiency of and accessibility to the mental health system;
- To work across disciplines and increase integration of mental health in primary care thus contributing towards developing health-care services providing more person-centred, coordinated care to people with (often comorbid) mental and physical health conditions;
- To support a shift in the governance and organisation of mental health services from institutionalised mental health care towards the (sustainable) establishment of community-based and client-centred local networks for integrated mental health services in the participating EU Member States;
- To contribute to reducing suicide mortality in Europe;
- To contribute to a better and more efficient use of data and information for the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of intersectoral, community-based and client/user-centred mental health promotion and care services and prevention
Additional general objectives that support the dissemination,
evaluation and sustainability of the good practices in this JA include:
- To establish sustained cooperation of relevant Member State authorities in the area of Mental Health and involving a wide variety of stakeholders to share a common and global vision about mental health.
- To outline and support steps to integrate JA achievements and lessons learned into the (mental) health policies in Europe.
- To consolidate lessons learned about the implementation process of good practices in mental health in a format that can inform policy planning and priority setting within Member States
- To actively engage national and international players, to the JA ImpleMENTAL to learn and reflect their needs and expectations explore views on mental health reform (including suicide prevention), the implementation of the knowledge transfer and economic sustainability as well as suggest concrete ways to integrate the results in national and regional systems
- To contribute to reducing the societal and economic burden of mental health disorders and promoting positive mental health and well-being as a key factor for social cohesion, economic and sustainable development across and within European countries.
Work packages of the Project
Work Package 1 – Coordination and Management
The objective of Work Package 1 is to effectively manage and coordinate the project. In pursuit of this goal, the project coordinator team will offer technical, scientific, financial, and administrative management and support. WP1 will actively oversee project advancement to prevent deviations and ensure adherence to ethical standards.
Work Package 2 – Dissemination
The Dissemination Work Package is tasked with strategically sharing project outcomes, innovations and all other relvan information. It focuses on crafting a comprehensive dissemination strategy to reach diverse stakeholders and enhance project visibility. This work package serves as the project’s communication backbone, utilizing various platforms to convey impact and significance nad to ensure visibility.
Work Package 3 – Evaluation
The Evaluation Work Package is dedicated to assessing project progress and outcomes. It plays a key role in analyzing the effectiveness of project activities and ensuring alignment with objectives. This work package serves as a crucial mechanism for ongoing improvement, providing insights that contribute to the overall success of the joint action.
Work Package 4 – Sustainability
The Sustainability Work Package is committed to ensuring the project’s long-term viability and impact. It focuses on implementing strategies that promote environmental, economic, and social sustainability. This work package plays a pivotal role in fostering lasting benefits and resilience, contributing to the project’s enduring success.
Work Package 5 – Transfer and pilot Implementation of the Belgian best practice on reform of the mental health (MH) services
The Transfer and Pilot Implementation Work Package (WP5) is tasked with introducing the Belgian best practice on the reform of mental health services. It involves transferring this proven approach and implementing it as a pilot initiative in implementin countries. This work package aims to adapt and apply successful methodologies to the project’s context, fostering innovation and effective reform in mental health services.
Work Package 6 – Transfer and pilot implementation of (selected elements of) of the Austrian Best Practce on Suicide Prevention (SP) “SUPRA”
The Transfer and Pilot Implementation Work Package (WP6) focuses on incorporating selected elements of the Austrian Best Practice on Suicide Prevention (SP) known as “SUPRA.” This work package involves transferring and piloting specific aspects of the proven Austrian approach to enhance suicide prevention efforts. It aims to adapt and implement effective strategies, contributing to the improvement of mental health services within the project’s framework.
